G&C Suspend Capture

After reaching 60,000 page views from 18,000 visitors from 127 countries in just five months, reposted in over 800 websites and making great contributions to Christian engagement with the world, The Gospel and Culture announced on July 2nd the board has suspended the project until further notice. Due to the financial crisis, it was unable to acquire enough funding to continue operations.

Like many people who have benefited greatly from the Gospel and Culture Project, we were greatly saddened by the news. However, we don’t think this will be the end. Perhaps there are methods to maintain parts of the projects with lower cost, if there are people willing to help out and others willing that want to project to continue. Thus, we are praying to mobilize the body of Christ to action. While the Forays are more difficult to continue without sufficient resources, it is definitely possible for the website to continue to operate with help from a grassroots community. The website could continue showcasing Christian engagement with culture and demonstrating how the Gospel reframes and illuminates key contemporary issues.

  1. Pray

    2. Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Pray not only for the project but more importantly that God will continue to use his people for the work of redemption for his glory. Pray for God’s leading in the project and even this grassroots campaign. May His will and not ours be done.

    If you know other brothers and sisters in Christ who are excited for God’s work in culture and walk to see his kingdom be made manifest in this way, ask them to pray as well.
